Recent Mood Swings First of all, that news story about us getting arrested at the American Airlines Center is NOT true.
What IS true is that that all of us have this thing for Robert Plant, and he and Alison Krause were getting ready to perform at the American Airlines Center, and Martha though it'd be okay if we snuck past the guards and introduced ourselves to him. She knew in her heart that Robert would be pleasantly surprised to see us and honored by our visit. So Diane went up to the guards and started flirting with them while Martha, Mary H and Lucy slipped by; then I came running up to the guards all out of breath, saying there was something going down in the women's restroom and they'd better hurry, which they did, and Diane and I quickly slipped backstage and joined the others.
We were almost to our goal--Robert's eyebrows shot up in surprise just as we were about to reach him -- but Alison ran for the guards, even though we tried to explain that we just wanted to meet him, to touch his hand, his hair, his gorgeous throat, and sing him a special song we wrote just for him, but before we knew it the guards were upon us and we were escorted out. I thought I heard an exhale of disappointment from Robert as were being hauled away; I could see his shoulders drop as we were herded toward the exit. I thought it odd that he didn't want to have his photograph taken with us.
So, no, we we not arrested. We were escorted, like proper ladies.
For those of you who don't know, the Mood Swings have been playing music all their lives [not true, only Diane has] and earned three Grammys in 2007 [also not true]. Launched by a guest appearance on SNL in the winter of 2003 [totally bogus] the 'Swings' fame was sealed with their unforgettable performance of "Metrosexual," selling millions of CDs and quickly rising to the top of the Billboard charts [in their dreams, except they really do have a song called "Metrosexual"]. At home, featured prominently on the television show Texas Country Reporter in the fall of 2009 [actually, this one is true], Merry and the Mood Swings perform their heroically indie original rock, alt and blues at Dallas-area venues and festivals [also true].
